It's been a frustrating couple of weeks for us here. Turns out, the pain I have is a herniated disc in my lower back (L5-S1). I can't walk or sit for more than 5-10 minutes without intense pain. I have spent the better part of the last 2 weeks laying on my back between doctor visits, as that is the only thing that relieves my pain. I have been to 3 doctors, gotten an MRI, and had a spinal corticosteroid injection. I find that I'm not much better than I was before. I, hopefully, have another doctor appointment tomorrow and we'll look into what to do next.
Not surprisingly, this prevented us from having our kick-off weekly service today. We have resorted to Plan B. Next week (Sept 18) we're going to have a small-group get-together with Imago Dei regulars. We're going to discuss what needs to happen to make each weekly service work and talk about places where we need to divy up responsibilities. Then we will be having a cook-out for people who are interested in helping, but can't commit to regular attendance. Letting them know exactly where we find ourselves needing gaps filled. Our first service is now on Sept 25th.
Out of hundreds of people who saw my last note, I had only one person respond. We're in a place right now that is crucial to our long-term health and we need to know that there are people out there who are praying and who are seeking where God would have them reach out and help this young ministry. I know there are lots of things that are pulling for your attention, but please, don't let this become something that gets put on the back-burner. There are people whose eternal destiny hangs in the balance. I will be the first to burn my candle tills there's nothing left and the Lord takes me home, but I need people to lend their light. Paul had the Philippians, Peter had the brothers at the house of Mary (Acts 12), Martin Luther had Frederick III, we all need people who will support us spiritually, emotionally, and financially. I need to know you are out there, that you read this, that you care about what happens.
Its been a rough couple of weeks, it may sound weird, but I need people to encourage me. I need people to encourage the church. I need people to encourage the believers here who are striving to plant the Gospel flag high on the hill for all to hear. Whether that's an email, a phone call, a donation, a note on facebook that all can see, please do something to raise your voice and not be silent. We are counting on you.
Grace and Peace
As always, I am here for you Nathan.
