I've been doing a lot of thinking and a lot of praying about the church's finances over the last week. I know some people are facing some tough times, I know some people have more money than they need, I know most people feel they're in the middle. I have shared with you our launch plan before, but I will quickly include a brief summary for illustration: Donations begin January 1, monthly Preview Services begin at the end of April, weekly services begin in September.
The reason we have donations beginning in January is two fold. First of all it's the beginning of calendar year, its a natural time to reassess our finances and begin new endeavors. Secondly, a church has numerous start-up expenses, facility rental, equipment, advertising, and many other costs need to planned for ahead of time. In January we will add a "total donated" bar to the blog so that we can all see how much has been given and where it all stands. Monthly basic financial statements will also be posted so that everyone can see where the money that you are donating is going.
Before we get to that point we need to have Pledges. I have a number of people who have given me a firm number on their Pledge, but I have an equal number of people who have not. If you have any doubt as to which category you fall into, please email the church to confirm at:theimagodei@gmail.com
If you have not committed to anything yet, please, would you consider contacting us about helping the Word of God be spread in Dover, NH? We will be setting up a number of convenient ways to donate that offer both trackability as well as accountability.
I know that things are tough, but think of the opportunities that present themselves for the ministry of God's Word! In 1 Thessalonians 2, Paul talks about not being a burden to the people of Thessalonica. He talks about the work he does so that the gospel can be shared without putting them out. In Philippians 4 Paul says "Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need." It is a blessing to be able to give to the work of God!
I want to be able to reach out to these people and show them that there are Christians around the country who love them and desire nothing more than that these people would have the opportunity to know Jesus Christ, Him that was crucified and rose again. Have you ever been surprised by the face of God, someone who showed you the love of God with no ulterior motive? This is your chance to do that for Dover, NH. Whatever the size of your gift, God will use it.
Grace and Peace
