Good night everyone! I should be asleep, but for some reason, I can't find myself there today. I had a blessed experience today. I went to a local church planting leadership event held at the coffeehouse 2 blocks over and was held fast by the Spirit. We worshiped and prayer in such a way that I could not contain the joy in my soul. The entire event brought to mind a single phrase, its one that is popularized by (but not exclusive to) a Hillsong praise song:
"Break my heart for what breaks Yours"
I simply can't get this idea out of my head, I have been tossing and turning for over 2 hours. I have to be up in 4 hours to take family to the airport, but I can't shake this phrase. It is the same haunting idea that I've had for years when I hear Mercy Me's song:
"Oh God let us be, the generation that seeks, who seeks Your face oh God of Jacob"
This idea that we CAN be the generation that reaches the world, not Nathan that reaches, not Imago Dei that reaches....not Jim, Rob, Andy, Rebecca, Cindy, or Billy.....that WE reach! You, me, him, her, us, we, them! God wants us to be so madly in love with Him that we hurt for why He hurts! The way you hurt for your children when they hurt, the way you hurt for your spouse when they hurt, the way you hurt when your dearest friend hurts.
Imagine if we truly HURT for what hurts Him. What would change about your life? What would change about your mission, and don't fool yourself, we all have a mission. I know I'm quoting a lot of songs here but bear with me for just a few more minutes. A song popolarized in the 70's and revamped by DC Talk "I wish we'd all been ready" takes a look at what it will look like those first few moments after Jesus returns. I think it can also apply to when you die. What would you say to the Lord of All, the First of Creation, the King of Kings if you had to stand before Him this very second?
"Everything I am for your Kingdom's cause, as I walk from earth into eternity"
I have been blessed this week by my sister and her husband visiting, more than they will ever know. I truly love them with all my heart and hope that God will lead them where He would have them go.
Hosanna in the Highest!
Grace and Peace,
Nathan
