Back and Plugging Away

Thanks all for continuing to check out what we're doing here in Dover. Chrissy and I got back the other day from a vacation that her grandmother provided for us and the rest of the family, it was a blessing. We have 46 days until we launch our monthly preview services here at Imago Dei and there's lots of work to do. I'm beginning to order some promotional materials, still trying to figure out a meeting location, and explaining to people that when you plant something it takes awhile before it sprouts leaves. The latter may seem an obvious observation, but often our understanding of church "success" is based on "what I can see". I just finished a great book called "The Organic Reformation" in it the author talks about how detrimental it is to focus our view of success on the "ABC's" of church growth (Attendance, Buildings, Cash). Especially at such a young age, we have nothing to speak of in any of those categories.

When I was growing up, my family owned Wainwright Apple Orchard. Hundreds of trees of varying varieties. When I saw it, it was a full and mature orchard. However, when my father and his siblings planted it back in the 70's it wouldn't have been much to look at. The thing about apple trees is that you have to give them time to grow and mature before you can expect them to produce fruit, especially if you're doing it from a seed. For those wondering what it takes to grow a single apple tree from scratch, you can check it out HERE

My secondary income is in full swing as I ply my trade at a local UPS Store. It certainly is an opportunity to meet lots of people. Oddly enough, this week I met a young lady who, up until a month ago, lived in Fishers, Indiana and worked at Roche. CRAZY! I do want to send a huge "Thank You" Rex Hauersperger for hooking me up with the UPS Store in Indiana as God has used that seemingly small event to provide a job in our mission field.

I look forward to the next months and years as we watch this tree grow. Keep us in your prayers and gifts.

Grace and Peace,
Nathan
